About the Artist: Rick Oginz (born 1944, Philadelphia) is a versatile artist whose work spans sculpture, paintings, drawings, ceramics, and site-specific commissions. With an extensive career that includes exhibiting worldwide—from London to Toronto, Los Angeles to Oakland—his art often explores themes of landmarks, architecture, and the delicate balance between the wild and the civilized. Rick’s current series focusing on the Wolf House Ruins honors Jack London’s vision and lasting legacy in Sonoma.
In addition to his artistic practice, Rick has a passion for teaching. He has been a professor of art and design at universities both here and abroad.
During this workshop, Rick will guide you through a discussion of his featured artwork, offering insights into his inspiration, creative process, and techniques. The experience will include a scenic golf cart ride to the iconic Wolf House ruins, where Rick will continue his exploration of the site’s power to inspire.
At the Wolf House and back at the museum, you’ll have the opportunity to sketch and create your own artistic interpretations of the surrounding landscape. All art supplies will be provided.

After the workshop, participants are invited to share their final sketches or completed artwork, where they can be featured on the park’s social media channels.
