Come experience what the alcohol ink craze is all about! Painting with alcohol inks is a relatively new art form that is whimsical, intuitive, relaxing, loose, playful, and downright fun. No art experience is necessary.
Alcohol inks are brilliantly colored dyes dissolved in alcohol. They are used on any non-porous surface (Yupo paper, tile, plastic, ceramics, metal, glass, etc.). The inks dance and blend all on their own, magically creating a depth, movement, transparency, and vibrancy not easily achievable with other mediums.
Rhea stumbled upon painting with alcohol inks several years ago, and was totally smitten. Her enthusiasm for this medium is contagious and shows no sign of fading. “Their beauty is totally enchanting. I’m excited to be sharing this passion with others.” Rhea has received many first place awards in local art shows and was recently a featured artist on the National Arts Program website.
This ongoing monthly series will consist of four classes on consecutive Friday afternoons. Brand new and experienced artists alike are encouraged to attend. Each month we will explore a specific area of interest (abstracts, landscapes, flowers, etc.) through demonstrations and individual assistance. Some of the many topics we will cover:
• techniques for working with the vibrant and unpredictable nature of alcohol ink
• painting on a variety of non-absorbent surfaces, including several common household items!
• tools and materials specific to this medium
• color blending, value, composition, creating a variety of textures
Come prepared to have fun, rediscover your natural creativity, and fall in love with alcohol inks!
